From Lawn Mowers to Million-Dollar Mindset: The Journey of Braydon Barrett
On this episode of Pivot to Profit, Pam Jordan sat down with entrepreneur and fitness coach Braydon Barrett, founder of Look Like You Lift. His path from mowing lawns as a kid to running a lean, profitable coaching company is packed with lessons on business, money, and mindset.
Early Drive and First Breakthrough
Braydon’s entrepreneurial streak showed up early. At just twelve years old, he was earning $1,000 a month mowing lawns. That same grit later fueled his passion for strength training, leading him into competitive powerlifting and eventually into fitness coaching.
When he and his wife were nearly broke, Braydon hosted his first online webinar from a public library using a $100 Chromebook. The $600 he earned that day proved he could build a scalable business.
Scaling Fast—and Cutting Back
A surge of viral growth in 2021 brought record revenue but also bloat. Overhiring, unnecessary software, and lack of financial discipline left the business struggling. Braydon’s wake-up call came when he realized cash flow was drying up and he wasn’t tracking the numbers that mattered.
The fix? Cutting $250,000 in annual expenses, reducing his team to just himself and his wife, and embracing AI to streamline operations. With tighter systems, he now reviews KPIs and financial statements monthly—practices he once ignored.
Lessons Beyond Fitness
Braydon also experimented with running his business overseas in Thailand. The challenges exposed gaps in his systems but ultimately pushed him to build a more resilient operation.
His biggest revelation, though, came in coaching. While his programs cover workouts and nutrition, he now focuses on identity shifts—helping men act as though they’re already stronger, healthier, and more confident. That mindset shift, he says, is what sustains real transformation.
Looking Ahead
Today, Braydon is working with executives and entrepreneurs, taking his high-performance coaching up-market. His story is a reminder of Pam’s signature advice: it’s not what you make that matters—it’s what you keep.
