James Klein on 40 Years of Lessons in Business and Balance

On this episode of Pivot to Profit, Pam Jordan talks with James Klein, a lifelong entrepreneur and CEO of Adonis Vitality, True Canine, and Harmonium Health. With more than four decades of experience spanning IT, supplements, restaurants, and pet wellness, Klein shares the wisdom only years of building, scaling, and reinventing can bring.

His journey began in the 1980s when he created an accounting system for his family’s travel business—long before IT became mainstream. From there, he launched and led multiple companies, learning that the best entrepreneurs combine innovation with restraint. His time in the public supplement sector taught him that investor pressure can kill creativity, while a tough lesson in the restaurant industry reminded him that oversight and systems are everything.

Today, Klein focuses on health and longevity for both humans and pets. His dog supplement brand, True Canine, grew from experimentation into a loyal customer base of pet lovers. He also consults with supplement and e-commerce founders, helping them move beyond one-time offers to build sustainable, brand-driven businesses.

His financial philosophy is simple: know your numbers and stay lean. He hires fractional experts, tracks costs closely, and believes customer retention beats constant acquisition.

Now in his sixties, Klein isn’t slowing down. “If I’m healthy, I’ll work the day before I die,” he says. For him, entrepreneurship is about energy, purpose, and the joy of creating something meaningful.
